Sickle Cell Anemia Causes and Effects

Sickle Cell Anaemia is a disease that occurs when there are abnormalities in the hemoglobin. It is a molecule whose task is to deliver the oxygen to the whole of the body. In this disease, a molecule called hemoglobin S is formed which deforms the red blood cells into a sickle shape.

There are many symptoms, which can be usually seen during childhood. One of the major symptoms is loss of red blood cells and reduction in their number. The patient faces various infections repeatedly and also suffers from pain. Some people have mild symptoms while others have severe. If the complications grow, such patients are admitted in the hospital at regular intervals for treatment.

In Sickle Cell Disease, the red blood cells are destroyed easily and they take the shape of a sickle. The growth of children is delayed and they also feel tiredness very soon.
